Brilliant! I shall we sharing this with my son who is struggling to navigate the first months of fatherhood coupled with his first year of a full-time teaching job.
Love it. Congrats! We spent a few days in the hospital when our son was born. Such an awkward way to start our new lives as first-time parents! The driving instructor reminds me a bit of Scott in Happy Go Lucky, if you've seen it?
I’m really looking forward to reading it over the next few weeks/months. And if u have/get a published I’d def love it printed form (I’m old fashioned like that!).
I would love the idea of publishing it as a proper book at some point (if I can find a publisher, which is very tough these days!) but going to see how this goes down first.
Thanks, Rebecca! Appreciate it. Some was written at the time, some retrospectively. There was a sweet window for a while where both of them took a long nap in the middle of the day which was a good time for writing.
OMG Andy, two things. 1/ This is very exciting. 2/ I had this exact memoir in mind for when my last starts primary school, haha. I knew we were similar, but this is uncanny.
Good for you for putting this out there. And if you're not sure on going paid, maybe add a 'buy me a coffee' button? I'd send a coffee your way :)
Haha, how weird?! You should absolutely do it btw - I'd 100% read that book. I can be the Guinea Pig re. whether serialising a book about the early years on Substack is a good idea or not!
Ah, nice suggestion, thanks. I did a day's work from Starbucks a couple of weeks ago and spent TWENTY ONE QUID so could do with the help to fund my wild lifestyle.
Congratulations! 🎉
And what the actual is going on with that box diagram? Please tell me a beautiful and complicated origami crane comes out the other end!
Thank you, Helen!
Haha, it was certainly beyond my capabilities. Bad start to the day!
Great stuff Andy, made me chuckle. Look forward to the chapters weekly, well done.
Thanks, Francis! This might turn out to be a terrible idea but let’s see how it goes! Hope you had a good hol.
I bet it will be great. Holiday was good thanks , exhausting though ! You know how it is 😂
Congratulations on birthing and book! I'm excited to read more!
Thank you, Amanda!

Ah, thanks so much, Sue! Glad you enjoyed.
Oof, teaching must be tough on no sleep. Congrats to him and his partner and good luck!

Haha, it’s just a ridiculous time, isn’t it?
Thanks, Anna - appreciate that! I am not familiar with Scott in Happy Go Lucky but I like the sound of him - will check out some clips.
I'm happy to have finally joined your community (after skirting around the edges for a while) in time for your serial. Loved chapter 1 both times!
Ah, thanks so much. Really delighted to hear that!

You always make me laugh Andy, can't wait to read your book. Well done on writing it whilst parenting small kids, do you not sleep?

Congrats!! Look forward to reading - and I hope Barry the driving instructor is on your subscribers list
Thanks, Wendy! Ah, I'd love that. The thought of Barry supping a can of warm Carling and reading Substack is quite comforting.
Love the first chapter, can’t wait to read more!
Cheers, Marc! Appreciate that.
So excited to read more. I strangely really like the name Helmut 🤣
Ah, thanks, Angela. Appreciate that. Haha - we'll have to agree to disagree on that one!
That’s awesome- can’t wait to read it!
Thanks, Lindsey!
Congrats on the book, Andy! Excited to read/listen.
Thanks, man! Appreciate the support.

Splendid!
Thanks, man!
C and G are just taking the piss in that box diagram. Jumped up no marks have really wound me up. Oh yeah, congratulations on the book!
Haha. Honestly, you have no idea how flustered I got with it.
Thanks, mate!
